RIT's New Media Design program had the privelage to create the motion graphics for Vignelli Center for Design Studies's Beyond Fashion- an annual fashion show inspired by prolific designers Massimo & Lella Vignelli. My team created motion graphics for designer Kelly Gampietro of the Fishy Patchwork fashion collection.

It was important that our animations aided the fashion pieces on the runway without taking all the attention. To do this, we created assets based on elements from each of the nine fashion pieces in Fishy Patchwork's runway set.

Digital assets created from Fishy Patchwork's process photos.
I lead design on the motion graphics on three of the nine total pieces. To fit the fashion show's mantra "the grid is everything," we put varying assets into a grid to keep consistency with each pattern.

Sketches from Fishy Patchwork- "Crossword", "Scrap", and "The Grid is Everything" patterns.
The intro animation led into the idle animation that played on the small LED screen throughout Fishy Patchwork's runway show.
The video transitions it from the big right screen to the small left screen.
The event was a great success, and the client was extremely pleased with our designs, highlighting how well they enhanced her fashion collection. Our choice to use a minimalist animation style helped keep the audience’s attention on the garments while subtly supporting each look on the runway. Overall, we were proud and excited about the outcome of Beyond Fashion 2023!
